Our Story
Our Story
Sorelle d'Italia in America was organized on March 19, 2010 on the "Festa di San Giuseppe." The club is made up of women who are interested in keeping the Italian heritage and traditions for generations to come. We are a diversified group of women - businesswomen, homemakers, mothers, single women who come together for our common goal of bringing awareness to the Italian American culture. Being a part of Sorelle d'Italia in America is a wonderful feeling of community and family.
Our love of our heritage bonds us together with a strong emotional tie that encourages others to share in that feeling. Our membership represents the various region of Italy, with many fluent in both Italian and English, as well as various regional dialects. Nevertheless, our goal is a "unified" one - a determination to promote Italian culture, the language, and preserve the many wonderful traditions that are represented throughout the regions of Italy.
"Today we have a dream, and a hope that someday, even if it takes a hundred more years before we are fully accepted, our children and their children's children, even if they carry a single drop of Italian blood, will be able and proud to continue to carry on our traditions, our culture and our language. It is up to us, and what we do today." - Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro
Through the Sorelle d'Italia in America, we hope to inspire future generations to not only dream, but to make Dr. Sellaro's vision a reality. Through the efforts and determination of Sorelle d'Italia in America, who hope to inspire Italians and Italian- Americans and to share in the opportunity of keeping the Italian heritage alive.
